Auchentoshan
From the Auchentoshan distillery in the Scottish Lowlands comes a triple distilled single malt Scotch whisky aged entirely in first fill American oak casks. A light, bright whisky with plenty of vanilla sweetness at its centre - great as an aperitif dram.
Oranges and lemons, toffee chunks and milk chocolate. Wafts of grassy air and clotted cream.
Bounty bars, more citrus peels and peaches. A little bit buttery, with golden barley and oak spice developing on the mid palate.
Lasting notes of grapefruit and toffee pennies.
If monkeys made whisky with piss... Auchentoshan.
Disappointing! I’m really missing a subtle single malt touch. The nose is promising, but the finish is really unpleasant to me with an indescribable bitter whack.
Cheap, but not so cheerful, I finished the bottle, only because I'm tight...
On a rating from Paraffin to Nectar, I rate this as turps.
I'm new to Scotch whiskey and I am very pleased with this introduction. It is smooth, tastes amazing, and makes just about any bad day better with a lowball of American Oak.
