Duncan Taylor's Octave range explore the glory of the octave - these smaller sized casks allow for significantly greater surface area to volume ratio, greatly impacting the flavour profile of whisky maturing within them. This is a 7 year old Ardmore single malt, distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2017 following a 3 month finishing period in one of those aforementioned octave casks. Only 70 bottles were produced.
Nose: Toasted rye bread with juicy marmalade, peppercorn and oily oak.
Palate: Toffee Crisp bars, fresh melon (and perhaps a vegetal touch of cucumber) followed by a burst of BBQ smoke.
Finish: Ash, tangerine and hints of peppermint.
