Ardbeg Traigh Bhan #1

Released in 2019, Ardbeg's Traigh Bhan is a 19 year old expression named after the local Traigh Bhan beach on Islay, sometimes known as the Singing Sands. The first core expression from Ardbeg in 20 years to be released with an age statement, this is an impressive dram that captures the character of the coastline brilliantly. It was drawn from a combination of American oak and Oloroso sherry casks, and has been bottled at 46.2% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Producer

Nose Gentle ripples of smoky pineapple, soured cream and wood smoke make for an irresistible nose. Newly planed oak and supple dark leather sing to your soul as sweet toffee and liquorice draw you in. A splash of water releases a surge of unexpected notes. Struck flint, herbal pine resin and coal tar effervesce towards citrusy lime sherbet and subtle, yet sweet vanilla cheesecake.

Palate The peaty power of this alluring spirit is undeniable, as it plunges your palate into its smoky depths. An intensely salty mouthfeel drifts into sweet and sour notes of smoked chili chocolate and paprika. Waves of toasted oak and roasted tea leaves emerge, before subsiding to reveal fresh peppermint fondant and salted white chocolate.

Finish Firm but gentle, soothing wood smoke carries into a length, lingering finish – resonating far beyond the glass.

Reviews for Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Year Old - Batch 1
Incredible maturity. Ardbeg have truly arrived.
N: There is a substantial nose that is watery…yes this is an oxymoron, but it best describes the nature of the peat rolling through your nostrils.

P: A different viscosity lightly initiates your journey to stunning effect. This dry peat is Michelin delivered with a hallowed light smoke keeping watch.

F: Swallow this in two parts and this reveals itself to be a world class dram. A masterclass of distilling.

Traigh Bhan - Tres Bien
The finest Ardbeg since the discontinuation of the 17 Year Old. Traigh Bhan is the smoothest, longest lasting Ardbeg I’ve ever had the pleasure of drinking. Already looking forward to next years batch.
