Ardbeg 13 Year Old 2005 (cask 700192) - Chieftain's (Ian Macleod)

When indie bottlings of Ardbeg arrive at MoM Towers, we always get a bit excited - because they're very often excellent. This one certainly is. It's a Chieftain's bottling from Ian Macleod, distilled in April 2005 and matured for 13 years in a single hogshead until April 2018. Just 327 cask strength bottles were produced.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Smoky bacon crisps, brown sugar, a touch of dried earth.

Palate

Peppery malt, sea salt, caraway and cinnamon.

Finish

A good helping of caramelised oak appears right on the finish.
