Ardbeg 14 Year Old 1995 (cask 2761) - Second Fill Bourbon (Fèis Ìle 2010)
A beautiful 14 year old, single cask Ardbeg bottled especially for the 2010 Feis Ile (Islay Festival). This was distilled on the 7th December 1995, it was then aged in cask 2761 (a second fill bourbon barrel) before bottling on the 3rd March 2010. A release of just 228 bottles...
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Gingerbread and malt on the nose, with citrus peels, soft oak and big notes of tangy, almost fruity peat. Burning tires, shoe polish, lime zest, grapefruit juice and a touch of jasmine-flavoured green tea.
Palate
Smoked and warming, with tingling, zinging spices, chipotle chillies, candy floss, lime juice, a little peppermint oil and smoked almonds. All the time there is a backdrop of furious creosote smoke!
Finish
Beautifully long and spiced with latte, dark smoke and banana on the tail.
Overall
Mind-blowingly good…
