On the arrivals board at MoM International is this single cask, single malt Scotch whisky from Allt-a-Bhainne in Speyside. Starting its journey in 2005, it enjoyed a long-haul maturation for 16 years in a Pedro Ximénez puncheon, before landing in at Alistair Walker for the independent Infrequent Flyers range. Cruising at a high 62.3% ABV, this complex dram does well with a couple of drops of water to open things up. An outturn of 634 bottles.
Complex, with sweet Maltesers, cocoa nibs, sun-dried tomatoes, raisins, and smoky paprika.
Sweet chocolate front and centre, with buttered toast and chocolate spread, plenty of pepper, vine fruit, and sherry influence.
Lightly drying, with fruity and savoury BBQ notes coming through, plus more warming pepper.
