G4 Tequila Extra Añejo Bottling Note

At the peak of Felipe Camarena's G4 Tequila range sits the Extra Añejo expression, which spends at least 3 years in American oak bourbon barrels before being bottled. G4 Tequila is made using traditional methods with environmentally-conscious elements introduced throughout, including creating a recycled steamroller that uses one motor to crush the agave (while other producers might use 10 to 15 motors). The steamroller is called Felipestein, which is wonderful.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Vanilla pod, orange peel, roasted agave, soft oak-y spice slowly building in the background, a touch of old leather.

G4 Tequila Extra Añejo Reviews

Cactus or Cask, sir?....

....that's normally the dilemma you have to satisfy to yourself as you head towards the Extra Anejos- the longer tequila sits in wood the more the agave quits the show. Of course a lot of good (great) things happen too, but is it still cactus juice distillate?
Well here, Don Filipe has done a great job of keeping the agave as the boss. Its right up front and it doesn't go away. Then the cask says hello and the sweet flavors take over. There's smooooth burn and the a quick fade (shame). Its really good.
If you want mucho Cask in your XA this might not be for you, if you want great Cactii then this works!
