An exquisite añejo Tequila from Fuenteseca, this 18 year old expression was distilled back in 1995, and has been treated to various of stages of maturation. To begin, the Tequila was filled into Canadian white oak casks that had previously held Canadian rye whiskey where it was left to rest for six years. In 2001, the casks were opened and blended together, before the liquid was divided back into a combination of the original Canadian white oak, as well as European oak casks that had previously held Californian red wine! The casks were also moved to a cooler climate at this stage, where they remained for the final 12 years of aging. It's pretty rare to see Tequila releases that have been treated to such generous maturation, so this is really rather special indeed.
