Edinburgh's Holyrood Distillery is proud of its home town's history as a brewing city, and is showing that off with a series of new make spirits which include ingredients that you'd be more likely to see in the world of brewing rather than distilling. For example, this expression features a portion of the distiller's malt replaced with chocolate malt (which is heavily toasted barley), and this helps to impart soft, roasty-toasty hints of coffee, caramel, and... Well, yeah, chocolate too!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Enjoyably bittersweet hints of dark chocolate and coffee beans, wrapped up in bold malty notes with a touch of peppery heat.
