A very special offering from Northern Ireland's Echlinville distillery, released as part of its recently revived Dunville's Very Rare range. For this release, mature Irish single malt whiskey was treated to a finish in eight exceedingly rare casks from Guyana's long-lost Port Mourant Estate. The casks previously held a mighty 41-year-old demerara rum produced in the legendary Port Mourant double wooden pot still and would have been lined with rich, dark molasses treacle before their original fill. That rich, treacly character has stood the test of time and in turn imparted its intensity to this spectacular cask-strength whiskey. An extraordinary bonus here is that, alongside the full-sized bottle of whiskey, you receive a 20ml sample of the original 41-year-old rum that was disgorged from the Port Mourant casks, providing a unique opportunity to try the two spirits side by side.
