This is an 'eau-de-vie-de-biere' from Adnams. If you know Adnams, you will have guessed it's distilled from their rather excellent Broadside bitter. It's matured in oaks for twelve months to produce a fresh, clean spirit that perfectly captures the Broadside flavour.
Crisp, fresh beer with an underlying spiciness soon emerge from initial bubblegum notes. Black pepper fresh ground, and lots of vanilla.
Wow. It's Broadside. But the spirit version. Crisp pint of bitter with a vanilla spice sweetness. Some subtle biscuit malt notes but still very fresh.
As with the nose, it's like you've just swallowed the first sip of your pint, fresh from Southwold in spirit form.
Well worth a try for beer and whisky lovers alike. It's unique and rather delicious. We can imagine cocktail enthusiasts are going to have a field day with this, and await the results with interest.

Lovely aroma. Needs to be nursed to be appreciated, builds and becomes more discernible on the third sip. Not a whisky, something of its own.
Wonderful brewers of beer, but this is not pleasant on the palate. Hard to discern. I tried it neat and also with ice, rather ghastly but might work in a cocktail.
I'm a big fan of most things that Adnams produce but I'm afraid this is revolting. No flavour or subtlety at all, worse than a really nasty tequila. I'd rather drink lighter fluid.
Nasty. Beer flavoured vodka. I’ve found the only way to drink this is to fortify beer with it, which gives good results if added to Broadside or Southwold bitters. Doesn’t claim to be a whiskey and definitely isn’t.
Very nice, but I found this was better on my 2nd drink, which brought out more of the flavours of the Broadside, so I think it's best to let this breathe a bit before drinking. The flavour is not as rich as the dark colour would suggest, but there is definitely the "spirit" of Broadside in there.
