Wood's is made from the finest sugar cane and distilled in Guyana, South America. Bottled at 57% abv, it is one of the highest percentage volume dark rums out there right now, at least at this price.
Its smooth enough to enjoy neat, but also a killer choice for cocktails.
Toffee, cinnamon, cloves and pepper spice on the nose with thick caramel notes.
Muscovado sugar, soft toffee and just a hint of the spice detected on the nose. This is very smooth, belying its hefty abv.
Surprisingly short but thick and syrupy toffee notes abound.
A rich, dark rum with a high abv that retains its smoothness. Would work well in a dark and stormy, despite the fact Wood's is distilled in Guyana, and not Bermuda.

An excellent Rum, powerful and dark and “spirits”! I generally mix it water to make a traditional “grog” and thoroughly enjoy it in that manner....I also clean my tobacco pipes with it, which keeps them fresh and slightly flavoured....yes, possibly an odd point of review but now you know.... I believe, having read around the subject, that at least one of the Stills that is used to produce this Rum, is one of the original Stills that was used to produce Rum for Royal Navy, so as connections go, it’s got good provenance!
The closest rum I have tasted to the real Navy tot.
Wonderful ! pure liquid treacle toffee.
Not the best rum out there but for the money there is nothing near it
not as strong as hicks 125 which is made in cornwall
