From Grenadian producer Westerhall Estate comes their Rum No.10, launched in mid-2016 to replace their Westerhall Vintage Rum as part of a range redesign. A great rum for enjoying neat or giving your cocktails a massive burst of well-aged rum deliciousness.
Notes of butterscotch and hints of maple spice. A little rose petal jelly. Vanilla fudge.
Honeyed, sweet palate. Baked apples, baking spices and soft wood. Beeswax, maple syrup and manuka honey. Creamy.
Long finish with creamy caramel and a touch of spiced oak.
Oh but I like it! Heavy, round and full like a middle aged man after Christmas dinner! It is a sipper although I drink mine 50:50 with water. Has a sweetness without being cloying or over bearing. Not too much oak and tobacco but still has a long finish. This is probably not a party or celebration rum. This is a sitting quiet of an evening just being content with life rum. I realise it’s a blend and not a trendy single cask job. It’s also very very good unlike a great many of the casks!
Bang for Buck - one of the absolute best rums on the market. Really lovely to discover such a beautiful rum from a lesser known island Lighter in style but complex chocolate and light, oaky charing. Highly recommend
