One of the initial rums from the launch of That Boutique-y Rum Company! This one was produced by an undisclosed distillery in Jamaica, matured for 9 years before being bottled by those Boutique-y folks. The label is a visualisation of the rum's production, featuring sugarcane (that's the big one), demerara sugar, molasses, unaged rum and aged rum.
Batch 1 is a release of 426 bottles.
An authentic tropical fruit salvo is enriched by Jamaican ginger cake and spiced molasses. Thick treacle trickles through red cola cubes, dried banana and buttery shortbread. A touch of marzipan lingers.
Juicy pineapple breaks through slightly earthy elements and vanilla pod. Caramel-coated charred oak forms the backdrop. Dark, syrupy and rich spice percolates throughout.
Tropical fruit and vanilla brilliance persists among a hot flush of sweet spearmint.
The unmistakable Jamaica pot still rum character and depth of flavour is no secret in this delicious dram.
This was my first go at approaching a rum like I do whisky...as something to be sipped, explored and savoured. I'm not as acclimated to rum, but I picked up a kind of milky earl-grey tea, some unripe bananas and some green olives on the nose. On the palate, there's a sumptuous commingling of vanilla, cocoa, mango and perhaps a hint of passionfruit, before the milky tea reasserts itself. I have unashamedly drunk my bottle rather quickly. It's damn good stuff.

Lovely and spicy fruity and is strong and so I only need half the amount with my coke so the 500ml bottle will last longer than you think.
Absolutely beautiful rum, lots of fruit on the nose, banana. Wonderful on the palate, rich, definitely fruity. Lingering spice on the long finish. Smooth.
