Stroh 80 is an intense, fiery spiced rum from Austria, made with all kinds of spice extracts and essences. It is worth trying in warming hot chocolates, or in spicy cocktails such as the Jagertee.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Rich, punchy spices and caramel-like sweetness. Woody.

Palate Sweet notes of Demerara sugar, potpourri and butterscotch. Very intense. Hints of molasses and treacle.

Finish Long, musty finish. Nutmeg, cloves and sweetness.

Overall Incredibly intense.

Not for me
Well I took a chance, but wish I had not. For me the taste is awful. I might test it as bait in a wasp trap, or as a weed killer, but I wont be drinking it straight or mixed.

Love it
Probably not for drinking neat, but wonderful in coffee and best of all sprinkled on chocolate sponge. Imagine it would be a great addition to hot chocolate, too. It you use it to flambe, it goes off like a rocket- be careful!

Don't ever stop making it.
Knew nothing about this rum until my daughter bought me a rum selection as a gift. Absolutely loved it, just ordering my second bottle.

Lovely for cooking/baking
My family have used this for making chocolate rum truffles for years. We make them every Christmas and Easter and they are always a massive hit with family and friends. We have tried it as a drink and have never managed more than a few sips, the flavour is lovely, but the strength of the alcohol is strong!!

Lovely, but beware !!
Very strong and I find it best palatable when kept in a freezer, then it doesn't burn as much. Great for shots as a beer chaser, but respect it or you will end up with a severe lack of memory and risk of passing out

Rum 'n raisins
I've been drinking this for years
(initialy illegally imported into south Africa from south West Africa)
Mixed with coke it gives off definite rum and raisin flavours
It's simply beautiful
As a shot you don't want it sitting in your mouth too long... It buuuurns!

Gorgeous
Mix it with hot apple juice for a real nice after ski drink, or with coke and lime for the best Cuba Libre I've ever tasted. Even if it packs a strong punch and you need just a little (20-30ml) in a mix, the flavour it ads it's beautifull and long lasting. My favourite rum for sure!

Subtle
Not really! HaHa! Quite simply a show stopper, the heat and flavour marry very well. My brother and I will mix this coke, which forms the delicious and aptly named Stro-ke. Thank me later!
