The St Nicholas Abbey distillers in Barbados have rustled up a cask strength variant of their excellent 5 year old rum. Bottled at 60% ABV, expect this expression to pack a punchy flavour profile of fresh fruit and warming spices.
Cedar, lemon drizzle cake, greengages, cinnamon, potpourri, anise.

On the nose, theres definitely some complexity in there but the hospital alcohol smell is the main one. For the taste, you are first hit with a lot of sweetness before the 60% catches up and heats you right up, followed by fruits that I'm not expert enough to tell apart. Finished caramel/toffee aftertaste. The strength is definitely there but its surprisingly smooth to drink, to the point where it can be enjoyed on ice. Should pair well with more bitter beverages
