Santiago De Cuba Añejo Bottling Note

From the Santiago De Cuba range (presumably named after the second largest city in Cuba) comes this Añejo rum, which has been aged in white oak barrels. Good for use in cocktails and mixed drinks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Ripe banana slices dipped in caramel. Touches of new oak.

Palate: Caramel continues, and starts to develop nuttier notes of toasted almond.

Finish: Bitter oak spice continues.

Santiago De Cuba Añejo Reviews

A new experience for an old man

A newly met Cuban friend wanted to give me a gift for a service I did for him, and he gave me a small bottle of Ron Santiago de Cuba rum. I am not a drinking man normally, but the warm flavor of the rum and the good feeling after a small drink was like a new sensation for me. I guess my taste buds are still very alive so I could enjoy the flavor of the Santiago de Cuba rum. It has been a few weeks since receiving this wonderful gift. I now have the pleasure of sipping a beautifully colored rum that satisfies my taste and warms my heart.

Value for money

I also picked up a bottle of this in Cuba - more or less at random in departures. Lucky choice - not the best rum in the world but very drinkable and quite inexpensive. Excellent value for money and is fine to be drunk on it's own or mixes very well.

Very drinkable on its own

Bought and drank this in Cuba on recent island trip. We liked this better than Havana club although that is also good
