Pyrat (pronounced 'pirate') XO Reserve is an orange-forward Caribbean spirit made with rums aged for up to 15 years (although most will of course have been aged for less time). The bottle is based on the design of those kept by ship captains and pirates during the 19th Century.
Very citrussy. So much orange peel. Icing sugar, waves of fruit. Perhaps a little cough sweet note too.
Sweet, viscous, more orange. Marmalade.
Molasses, orange peels, marmalade, spice.
Like an incredible rum old-fashioned.

read the reviews....all over the internet....then sip and come to your own conclusion...this is a RUM...it is a very different rum that overlaps into other territories...yep, it's got a liqueur-ish-ness to it...orangey for sure....but it is definitely a rum that will, sure, mix fine in a very nice way...heck, add a shot to a mimosa! but i wouldn't waste it that way....perfect strange sipping rum from....guyana!
The orange is very present, and in a balanced way. I tasted this first on Anguilla and it is one of my top choices of rum. Makes a nice gift too.
5 year ago, I became a rum convert, and after tasting the Pyrat, I can definitely say that was the right choice and I wish I had gotten there sooner. This is the perfect rum to take neat, no ice of course, and definitely no mixer, just sit outside and sip away, and is perfect with a nice cigar.
I bought this for the bottle shape and name at Gatwick Duty Free for £34. I liked it from the first taste and so did everyone who tried it. I thought it very similar to Metaxa 7 Stars. Not too orangey flavour..
I found this rum delightful .Different to other ones nevertheless one to add to anyone's collection
