Pusser's 'Gunpowder Proof' Black Label (previously known as Blue Label) is a higher proof traditional British Naval rum, produced using the blending recipe from the Admiralty. Well loved, it picked up a Trophy at the International Spirits Challenge 2016.
The nose is full of dried fruits, dates, prunes, slightly overripe figs. The palate is very sweet, plenty of dark, syrupy, stewed fruits. An interesting pot still character with a pleasant muddiness. Full-bodied. The finish is incredibly long and dark.

Aye, it's not bad....as my old fella said. This means, as a RN AB, joined in 1947,had his first tot in 1950, in Buenos Aires, I believe, this must be good stuff. He's not let me have a sniff of it though, the tight old git ;)....Up Spirits!!!

Absolutely love this. Being an Old Salt, one cannot compare this issue with any other Rum. Would love to order some. Is there a process where this can be done
29th December 2016
Great rum, what rum is supposed to be, the best thing the Brits ever made, so I raise my glass of "Nelson's blood" in honor of 300 years of tradition and the salties who brought us this golden nectar!

I must have had at least ten years of legal tots of rum during my 22yrs service and this is up to the best I have tasted. Rum Rat

Usually drink single malts or bourbon but thought I'd give a rum a try. Always liked a Lambs Navy with Coke but this stuff is far too good for mixing! First impressions on the nose were similar to a Speyside; lots of dried fruits, fig, date etc, burnt sugar and caramel. Nice thick mouth feel and I was pleasantly surprised by the smoothness. Didn't need to add water, even at this strength! Really impressed with this.

Not a rum lover, but absolutely love this stuff. About to order my third bottle thanks to an old matelot friend of mine. Thanks for introducing me to this stuff Hendy!!!

A drop of 'Nelson's Blood'. brings back memories of tot time......Sippers, Gulpers and Sandy Bottoms!
26th December 2015
Remember having the Blue Label Pussers Rum on board ship during "splicing the main brace" where the celebration of the official birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth was conducted. Those not accustom to the taste would offer it to others, or have it with Coca Cola.... (sacrilege to the pure taste and warm feeling it gave)
21st December 2015
Absolutely superb, ordered my second bottle.

Having experienced drawing my tot (2in1) in the Royal Navy no other rum comes close or matches it like Pusser's. Still have my daily tot (Pusser's of course), only not as much as we were given back in the Sixties. Here's to the greatest Royal Naval tradition that was, Cheers!
29th July 2015
I prefer Pussers to any other. Up spirits
8th May 2015
Top rum this nothing else really matches it.
31st December 2014
Best rum I ever drank and the only rum that doesn't make my nose hairs curl or stomach turn. This is by far the best rum ever. Cheers to 300 years and many more, keep up the good work,
By far the best proprietary "TOT" available.......luckily we have a sympathetic supplier and reduces his profit as much as possible. We get through about 12 - 15 bottles per year, all dished up from an old "small ships barrel" (that leaks) so have to have a bucket inside LOL
13th August 2014
Joined navy 1954, drew tot from age of. 20, dischard Jan 1970, and now 75 years old still having daily tot (neatters) but find this world beating rum exspensive but doing my best. Idefy you to find better.
14th February 2014
oops forgot review star rating - it only gives 5 stars - deserves many more!!
14th December 2013
Joined Royal Navy 1957 starting drawing my tot on 20th birthday (1960) - never looked back! Best rum ever and still have a tot everyday - nectar of the gods
Forgot to add the 5 stars this so richly deserves

Takes me back to my Naval life 1944 to 1950. There is No other rum like it. Wonderful to still be able to 'Up Spirits' properly.....Pincher Martin
I've been buying this from Master of Malt for a few years now and always buy two bottles at a time so my darling Dad is never disappointed at Christmas or on his birthday. He has always been a rum drinker but this brings an extra special twinkle to his eye. Thank you for your professional and speedy service and best wishes and a great bit thank you to you all at Master of Malt x

just got two bottles of Woods 100,obviously I like rum,There are one or two which match the strength. Pussers is great, but getting hold of it takes time, and woods is slightly cheaper.Still *up Spirits* stand easy the holy ghost.Ex RN

My Dad was in the navy in the sixties; he thinks this is the best rum. Enjoy a drop of Nelson's blood at tot time!
13th August 2013
first tasted in korea still going strong.
25th July 2013
One of the top three rums I've ever tasted, other two being zafra 21 and el dorado 21. Massive toffee and raisins, toasted marshmallow, orange peel, maple syrup, sweet sweet sweet big, but gentle enough to drink neat.
12th July 2013
This is the same tasting rum that I drew when in the Royal Navy. As good as it gets, only no "sandy bottoms", just as many time around the buoy for 'Queens' as you like.
2nd June 2013
First tasted back in 1998 whilst serving in the Royal navy out in the west Indies. Many a good matelo fell foul to it's superior taste on a run ashore. best rum (apart from kraken) i've ever tasted "Splice the main brace" and treat yourself to the Grog.
1st May 2013
best rum ever only drink it neat
21st April 2013
I've had maybe 20 different rums and this is the strongest one yet but not the tastiest. Wow, it is definitely a must try for any rum lover. It's good but not one that I'd do regularly. Full of flavor and a massive nose! Try at your own risk. An experienced rum drinker's rum, for sure.
29th March 2013
As the title suggests i like a good whisky but this Pussers Admiralty issue really stands high in both taste and value ... look no further this is as good as Rum gets
20th January 2013
once tasted never forgotten
23rd November 2012
Despite its strength drink it neat. Its smooth sweet and flavoursome and tastes of molasses. (the sugar product, not the burrowing mammals bottoms). Seriously this is a great value rum, try it, savour it! Enjoy! If they drank these tots at Trafalgar no wonder the English won!
4th August 2012
After many years in the navy my husband is still saying this is the best drink he has ever tasted
6th February 2012
This rum is fantastic, but it only truely shines, I believe, if it's watered down slightly. Without water there is a distracting sulphur to the palate and finish. With water it's exceptional.
31st January 2012
Nearly forty years in the Royal Navy, drew my tot for 4 years before it was discontinued in 1970. This is the only rum for me.
10th November 2011
Not a rum person but this is the first rum I have actually liked straight. Has a great oak taste with dark burnt sugar sweetness. I Like it.
17th July 2011
after 16 years in royal navy having drawn my daily ration when i was 21,I have never found another rum to match this one. None of the other rums with the wording navy on them have ever seen the navy. i served 1954 to 1970 and pussers was the only rum issued. its the best.Danny Spain.
