Pusser's Gunpowder Proof

Pusser's 'Gunpowder Proof' Black Label (previously known as Blue Label) is a higher proof traditional British Naval rum, produced using the blending recipe from the Admiralty. Well loved, it picked up a Trophy at the International Spirits Challenge 2016.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is full of dried fruits, dates, prunes, slightly overripe figs. The palate is very sweet, plenty of dark, syrupy, stewed fruits. An interesting pot still character with a pleasant muddiness. Full-bodied. The finish is incredibly long and dark.

Now I know why my grandfather stayed in the navy so long
As the title of my review implies my grandfather was a long serving member of the Royal Navy, after tasting this rum I’d join myself. I drink mine with some water (grog) and it’s a lovely smooth drink not at all harsh. Buy it.

Smooth easy drinking rum
I tried Pussers Rum in St Lucia a couple of years ago and was impressed. I treated myself to a bottle over Christmas and I still love it, I like it with a couple of ice cubes, no mixer required to enjoy the flavours.

Full-flavoured and smooth
Enjoyed this (too quickly!) over Christmas, as a double shot with quality ginger beer (Fentiman's or Bundaberg, forget the ubiquitous cheaper stuff, which tastes harsh and chemically when mixed). Highly recommended.

Best rum available anywhere
Great tasting rum neat or with pussers grog, even with ginger ale/beer.
Many other contenders tried and several come fairly close but none make the best worry.
Well recommended over many years.

This is simply the best dark rum you will ever taste. A lovely warming and intoxicating flavour, to be drunk neat, warmed in the glass held in the hand, and savoured.
