Project #173 Coconut

The Project #173 selection is all about bringing together good quality rum and natural flavours to create lip-smacking expressions - like this one right here! Project #173 Coconut Rum builds on the exotic flavours within the spirit, introducing bright, creamy coconut notes into the mix. Should do rather well with tangy fruit juices, but it should also make for a tasty twist on some classic rum cocktails. Plus, just look at that snazzy bottle - it's even adorned with some 23 karat gold leaf!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Clear coconut influence on the nose, alongside hints of brown sugar and cut grass.

Palate Vanilla, stone fruit, another hint of grassy brightness, with waves of fresh coconut underneath.

Finish Lingering hints of Bounty Bars and citrus.

Overall The rum's character remains integral to this spirit, with the coconut bringing additional deliciousness to its flavour profile.

Fantastic smell & Taste, Beautiful bottle
Taste's fantastic. Really vibrant coconut smell and taste. Styled in a beautiful bottle. I've been using this in plenty of cocktails and it's been going down a treat.

I really enjoyed it.
This is one of the best coconut Rum’s I have tried and I have tried most. Smooth on its own or in a mixer. I really enjoyed it. The smell of coconut and the taste of vanilla takes me to a beach in the sun every sip!

Avoid
Really disappointed. To me it tastes quite artificial and rather nasty.

Not coconut
I don’t know what the distillers at 173 were tasting, but this is not coconut. It’s closer to mango, there are literally no coconut overtones at all. Not in taste, not in smell. Did they switch bottles by accident? I can’t even place the taste, it’s grim. Even with a mixer

Blast from the past
I first tasted coconut rum in 1970 as a present from a pal who visited the West Indies and have now found this wonderful product which has brought my taste buds(and memory) back to life.
