Nose: Banana, obvs, but clean, ripe banana rather than yucky foam banana. The high, ripe esters (flavour molecules) from the rum blend seamlessly with the banana acting as a supercharger to the base flavour rather than an unwelcome intrusion. A lick of spice on the tail end provides intrigue.
Palate: Sweet, but not cloying – banana flavour is intense but doesn't overstep the mark – it's still clear that there is good liquid in the mix. Dark caramelised notes lead into the finish.
Finish: Long, with the resurgence of the caramelised goodness, and the high esters continue to play for a decent length of time.
Overall: A well-balanced, and considered rum. Epic in a Banana Daiquiri, but equally at home in any number of tiki drinks where it provides a huge lift to the natural esters of the rum.
