Nose Banana, obvs, but clean, ripe banana rather than yucky foam banana. The high, ripe esters (flavour molecules) from the rum blend seamlessly with the banana acting as a supercharger to the base flavour rather than an unwelcome intrusion. A lick of spice on the tail end provides intrigue.
Palate Sweet, but not cloying – banana flavour is intense but doesn't overstep the mark – it's still clear that there is good liquid in the mix. Dark caramelised notes lead into the finish.
Finish Long, with the resurgence of the caramelised goodness, and the high esters continue to play for a decent length of time.
Overall A well-balanced, and considered rum. Epic in a Banana Daiquiri, but equally at home in any number of tiki drinks where it provides a huge lift to the natural esters of the rum.
