“OFTD is the greatest overproof rum on the market. I love Pussers 151 but this blows it out of the water. I can mainly taste and smell the Guyanese Demarara rums in OFTD with hints of Jamaica and very little of Barbados. OFTD tastes very similar to Pusser's Gunpowder Proof Spiced. OFTD makes the best rum and cokes, Dark and Stormies, Pankillers and Zombies. You can even sip OFTD neat although take it easy. Permanant restock for me.”

A rather marvellous overproof dark rum from the Planteray range. Their O.F.T.D. (which stands for 'Old Fashioned Traditional Dark') is comprised of a blend of rums distilled in Barbados, Jamaica and Guyana, which has been bottled at a hefty 69% ABV. This'll be excellent for cocktails, we reckon...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Toasted brown sugar and charred oak, followed by hot clove and cinnamon.

Palate

Continued clove warmth, paired with caramelised apple and banana fritters.

Finish

Wafts of smoke drift in on the finish, but brown sugar and simmering spices dominate.
