A treasure for connoisseurs, a challenge for the others
Well, yes, it is strong, however, if you enjoy the intense aromas you will definitely like it. It has sweet and spicy notes, all of them are, of course, way more intence than in your regular 40% ABV / 80-proof drinks. I found here some slight similarities with a good strong rye whisky, especially the amazinf spicy finishing touch. You have to really taste this rum, not just drink it like you regular everyday stuff, because once it opens up its richness, you will definitely be delighted by it. It is a great thing for rum connoisseurs and definitely shouldn't be missed. Also might be suitable for those who enjoy rye whisky or bourbon spice. However, if you are just into getting drunk or having a casual drink, it's going to give you a real punch that might be rather strong.

Oh it's dangerous
So I purchased this as to try something with a little more kick, kick isn't the word as I took my first sip. Wow this was a pleasant surprise as I was expecting a harsh burn, but not at all. Its not one I'd sip n drink all night but one or two and you will be feeling warm inside. Its probably better as a mixer if you were planning on drinking this all evening.

To address the 2* review: Cant drink it straight / on the rocks... Its a 69% rum; who does that unless they can handle it? 50/50 with your soft drink of choice - especially diet pepsi - this is the one; its fierce even at this dilution, probably a 50% alc content but its so delicious. Try Pantation 5 year Barbados if you want straight rum.
Straight, this is too dry for me but mixed Heaven.

Fantastic overproof Rum
Fantastic rum which is deceptively drinkable on it's own considering it's strength. Along with Stiggins Fancy, some of my favourite rum - both from the Plantation stable. Agree that the previous poor reviewer should stick to cherryade!!

Brilliant rum, wonderful in cocktails and with a touch or water, absolutely wonderful on it's own.

Very versatile
Great blend of rums to make this drink. You can taste the different styles. Very drinkable for its strength. Perfect for cocktails, even to sip straight. It’s 69% so be sure to dilute with mineral water or use ice to find the right strength for you. Couldn’t ask for anything more from an overproof rum. Highly recommend!

to avoid
Almost undrinkable. It has a very strong unpleasant aftertaste. If you want to get drunk it will get the job done, otherwise dilute in a lot of coke, or just drink coke, or better yet, spend your money on mount gay xo, costs the same and much much better.
