The fourth chapter in the innovative Single Estate series from Mount Gay joined the collection in 2025, showing us the next step in the team’s adventures in homegrown sugar cane under the leadership of master blender Truidanne Branker.
This edition shines a light on the 2019 sugar cane harvest, grown entirely on the Mount Gay Estate in St. Lucy, Barbados. Processed into molasses in-house, fermented for an average of nine days, and double pot distilled, the rum then spent five years maturing in American oak bourbon barrels for a profile layered with toffee and red fruit sweetness, floral elegance, and balanced bitter molasses.
The bottle is made of 70% recycled glass. Minimal ink is used on the label, which instead includes a QR code that you can scan to access a huge wealth of info, from processing and harvest stats to the different cultivars of sugar cane grown, and observations from the distillery’s team, from farming supervisors to Branker in the blending room.
Rich and unctuous with notes of dark, treacley toffee, earthy vanilla, and macerated fruits.
Pot still dryness, rich molasses, earthy oak, and drying leather. Rounded and balanced, with charred brown sugar, banana bread, and a touch of warm rubber.
