Aged for 18 months in oak barrels, this Mauritian gold rum from the Rhumerie de Chamarel is made from pure cane juice, using sugar cane grown in the fields surrounding the distillery. The quality of this cane, its careful selection and ensuring it reaches the mill as soon as possible after being hand picked each day are of the very highest priority to Chamarel. The reward for their diligence is a vibrant rum with subtle vanilla character.
This rum tastes of Jack Daniel’s mixed with oak, leather and tobacco! It has a very smoky, woody taste to it, which personally I can’t stand. Improves when mixed with Coca-Cola, just, but still tastes like I’m drinking a cigar dipped in whiskey!

Having visited the Chamarel distillery in Mauritius and tasted this rum, I can vouch for it's lush flavour and smooth finish. Happily available in the UK and now the usual Christmas gift from the mother-in-law!
