Aged for 18 months in oak barrels, this Mauritian gold rum from the Rhumerie de Chamarel is made from pure cane juice, using sugar cane grown in the fields surrounding the distillery. The quality of this cane, its careful selection and ensuring it reaches the mill as soon as possible after being hand picked each day are of the very highest priority to Chamarel. Very versatile rum. I drank it on its own and it was beautiful. I also mixed in a gold mojito, old fashion and a Mai tai. Simply sumptuous. Great rum as a based and for drinking.
This Is a great sipping rum, very light fruity soft mellow followed by soft tones of apricot and peaches. At 42% abv there is no harshness or burn, Incredibly smooth and delicate. Perfect evening drink whatever the occasion.
This rum is soft, smooth and very easy to drink. When I drank this I got lots of yellow fruit, slight vanilla notes and initial hit of sweetness on my palate. Very good on its or excellent in an old fashion! Thumbs up!!
