We're always intrigued when we get to try rums from countries that you don't immediately think of as places where rum is often produced. We've got one here from Japan, for example – Kiyomi Japanese Rum! It's produced at the Helios Distillery in Okinawa, using local sugar cane distilled in a column still, creating a crisp, vibrant spirit with aromatic notes of fruit, grass, and spice. Ought to be excellent for using as a base for all kinds of classic cocktails with an interesting twist. Give it a go in a Mojito!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Lemongrass, anise, juicy pineapple, white pepper, green apple, a very subtle hint of smokiness underneath.
