Kingston 62 Gold Rum Bottling Note

Here we have an aged Jamaican rum, Kingston 62 Gold! Previously known as Appleton Estate Special, the blend of pot and column still rums, aged on the Appleton Estate itself. A top mixer with ginger beer!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Buttery and spicy, with vanilla alongside fresh tropical fruits, bolstered by ginger and cinnamon.

Hard to find. One of 5 sobey'ss stores in Regina carry it.
Closer to the appleton special the the previous J Wray Gold version. Find it smoother than Appleton signature blend or estate.

Underrated
Still got the taste of the special for me. An easy drink rum...the bottle will disappear quickly

Disappointed
Nothing like Appletons Special, tastes chemically and that lovely Rum smell has gone :(

Good enough...
Appleton Special was my rum of choice for years and I was very happy to find that it had not been discontinued as I first thought.

While not exactly like the original, Kingston 62 is a close enough match in terms of flavour. There is a slightly more alcoholic kick on the way down and it's missing some of the higher notes but the base flavour is still there.

Still a very good rum for the price.

This is amazing for the price,....
I've never had the Appleton Special to compare but, for the price this is amazing. It's not for sipping necessarily (although you could do that if you so desire), but in cocktails it's excellent. Tried it in St John while on vacation and the nose has those elements of good Appleton rums. Hoping it finds its way to the States as I'm loving it for it's versatility.

Farewell to an old friend
I know this is meant to be Appleton Special but it isn’t the same. And we did a blind tasting to check. Lost something on the nose, feels less rounded in the mouth and a harsher alcohol kick on the finish. Please Appleton, bring back Special!
