Blackwell Black Gold Rum was created by Chris Blackwell, who also happens to be the owner of Island Records. The dark rum itself is distilled and blended by J. Wray & Nephew in Jamaica. It was made in the style of a traditional recipe from the days when Blackwell's mother's family owned J. Wray & Nephew and the Appleton estate.
Bittersweet mocha and woody spice, with touches of oak char and caramel throughout alongside a burst of vibrant ripe tropical fruit, namely kiwi.

Delicious straight drinking rum. Makes no pretence about being aged - it’s not, and lacks the complex mouthfeel of a Zacapa. Bargain makes this my “everyday” rum
Certainly good enough to drink straight. But not too good you feel guilty drinking with a splash of coke and a big hit of lime. Fantastic for the money. Recommended and would buy again.
Came across this while searching for some new second rowers and my oh my this stuff is a steal, it's just so smooth and enjoyable to drink neat you could just keep going and going with it, highly recommended trying if you like a dark rum neat.
Generally a sipping man, I favour straight spirits; but I found this (though delightfully smooth) a tad savoury. A dash of Coke ( I do mean a dash, like 1:5) and this excellent liquor transforms in to pure, rich, sweet syrup. Highly recommend.
Smooth; like rich Maple syrup with a dash of nutty coffee on the nose. Wonderfully spicy on the back of the palate, thick and luxuriant feel in the mouth. A savoury sipping Rum; don't waste it on any mixer, beyond perhaps a pippette worth of Coke, nothing more.
