The best-selling high proof rum in the world. 90% of rum sales in Jamaica are of Wray and Nephew. Overproof is a very potent spirit indeed!
The nose is fruity. Notes of molasses and spice. The palate is fruity and a little spirity. There are notes of banana and Demerara as well as spice and a little oak. The finish is long and spiced.

The one and only. Quite amazing that a liquor this potent can still be palatable.A splash makes just about any tropical cocktail taste more authentic.Still, be careful. This is not to be trifled with.

This rum does exactly what it sets out to do and it does it VERY well. Tropical fruit flavours burst over the palate. Use this sparingly (a barspoon) in a rum/tiki cocktail and it lifts the entire drink like no other product I have ever come across. Highly recommended. Don't listen to the morons whinging about how strong it is because they've been shooting it neat.

Very helpful for a body rub to reduce fever. Popular usage in Jamaica.

Got to try W & N with Fresca. Yes Fresca. It's the best. A wedge of lime and WOW!

Imagine a clear liquor that, instead of corn, has the underlying flavor of sugarcane but with all of the kick of moonshine and you can imagine what this tastes like. A few shots will put you on your butt for sure. Great taken in shots (dont forget the chaser) or in mixed drinks.

Just a few shots will put you on your butt. I don't remember anything.

Have no experience of the expensive, high end rums- only standard, dark and medium ones; so this is not an expert appraisal. Out of all the rums I've tried, this beats the pants of everything. Some are going to find it disgusting as other reviews show- I think you'd have to be a bit of a wuss to dislike it though. Rich, spicy, aromatic- Bananas, spices and something I can't define fighting against the other flavours in an interesting way. Very appealing after-taste. Caution-- more-ish- highly addictive- very strong. Amazing with grapefruit juice, sometimes a bit of pineapple juice too if you want it sweetened a bit. If you can find Lilt or Ting for a bit of fizz- excellent mixers. Would gladly have it with just fresh grapefruit juice any-time. It's put me off Scotch, because there's too much tame whisky nowadays.

I mix it with lime juice and simple syrup. Mixes well with any fruit/tropical juice and makes Thee Best Pina Colada. Wouldn't recommend it straight.

This is the first rum I've had that I've really enjoyed. I've had other rums and not liked them at all, both dark and white. I bought this on an impulse and I can say that I've completely enjoyed this rum. I gravitate to a good ginger ale as a mixer (some may baulk) as I'm not a fan of cola or fruit juice.
29th February 2016
I love this with ice cream

In Jamaica they call it "John Crow Bootie". Meaning "Buzzard's Ass". Really packs a punch, but when approached with caution, it's a good mixer.

lovely rum, very strong,. a single shot with a can of pepsi max is just perfect. My daughter brought back a bottle from Jamaica. cheap in Jamaica dear here

This is a favourite of mine, it's not a sipping rum. If you respect this bottle then it can be a very good experience if not then you'll end up with a bad head as previous reviewers can attest, the fact that it says overproof on the bottle should give you a clue to it's strength. I find half a shot added to a cuba libre is more than enough. Smell - Very boozy strong, tropical fruits. Taste - White grapefruit juice, touch of lemon, warm after burn in the throat.

Mixes with anything, and really nice with mango juice, and lets face it you don't need much, no problem

One of the smoothest overproofs out there!! Smooth and sweet just like me!

Me and my friend opened a bottle of this since we received this as a gift from one of our other friends who went to Jamaica and the smell was absolutely foul. Even when we tried to plug our noses and drink it the taste reflected the smell. I would not recommend drinking it straight. We mixed it Coca-cola and it was okay, it over powered the soda though so it didn't really help. We tried it again with orange juice and it helped with the taste a lot better. It's a great drink to get you tipsy. You get a good hit after every drink.

But this stuff is just plain horrible. I tried coke, ginger ale, and even fresh squeezed orange juice. I can't drink it. Makes me nauseous. I normally drink rum straight up, by the shot, or with a side of water. I can burn through a bottle in less than a week. This stuff took over a year. Did I mention horrible? Gasoline tastes better. I'd give it 1 star if I could figure out how. I'd recommend a sample.

But seriously, $42.49? I can get it at any liquor store in Tucson, Arizona for half that.

one of a kind taste to say the least. wouldn't recommend drinking it straight
19th July 2014
I was introduced to this rum by my Jamaican Fiancé, a vodka drinker myself I mistakenly thought it would be similar or perhaps like the white rum Bacardi.....how wrong I was! My first taste was mixed with Pepsi and LOTS of ice....Loved it!!! It's my drink of choice (with Pepsi) when I'm in Jamaica and hitting the bars. Indoors we drink it with ice cold milk, very smooth and just the right kick for chilling together watching a movie...try it.
13th July 2014
I'm tipsy off it right now. Love to drink it straight. Mhmmm
13th May 2014

smells like parafin
22nd March 2014
Oh dear God, how can anyone drink this straight? I can only assume after repeated drinking the chemical burn has destroyed all tastbuds.
5th March 2014
It is a good rum, DEF not the best, id put flor de cana over it anyday, but yea as someone above stated slightly medicinal and needs to be mixed with juices rather than sodas to get the right flavor out....
14th January 2014
if is could speack i would write areview
11th January 2014
had half a shot after dinner....and ended up parking a leopard by the side of the road ...as did my dinner partner...quite the foulest ,most undrinkable liquid i have ever had the misfortune to taste
17th December 2013
I have been drinking this for many years with coke and two years ago, my fiance's aunt (who is Jamaican) says her favourite mixture is with orange juice. I looked at her as if she was crazy, but have to say, I am hooked. It has to be real OJ, not the cocktail. Also, another favourite of mine is mixing it with the mango/pineapple smoothie from McDOnald's, Try it! I told my friends and they love it! JW

Simply the best white rum on the market atm. The slight medicinal/burny raisin element to it may be off putting to some but i think it's wonderful, best drunk neat with respect with a glass of water on the side
13th July 2013

This rum is one that needs to be savoured, yes it has a high ABV%, but it this allows this bottle to retain masses of flavour...any self respecting rum drinker worth his/her salt should have this in their collection.
28th November 2012
My partner was given a bottle of W&N and she came home and gave it to me as she does not drink rum. Well what a drink so full of tropical fruits one of the best drinks I have ever had on it own or with Coca Cola just amazing.
11th October 2012
WOW!! Unlike any other rum I have ever tasted. The bottle was brought back to me from Jamaica by a friend, knowing I am a rum enthusiast. I mixed my girlfriend and I a drink. Hers a single and mine a double. 1.5 Oz. rum - 10.5 Oz cola, and 3.0 Oz. rum - 9.0 Oz. respectively. Incredible full taste. very bright, with a hint of tropical fruits. Even the smell, when mixed, has this smell. went well with our steak and mashed with broccoli cheese basmati rice. Yes home made! To make it short... Get yourself a bottle, and either get gibbled, or enjoy it properly. It can be used both ways!
