Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is fruity. Notes of molasses and spice. The palate is fruity and a little spirity. There are notes of banana and Demerara as well as spice and a little oak. The finish is long and spiced.

Reviews for Wray and Nephew White Overproof
The very best rum for coktails
This white rum from Wray and Nephew is my first choice for rum-based cocktails. From a summer time/ anytime rum punch, long and sweet with fruit juices, sour with a good hit of freshly squeezed limes and strong with W&N Overproof. perfect for 'liming' (Jamaican for chilling out with friends, playing dominoes, catching a breeze and joke with good friends and new. It is deceptively, smooth and easy but when you rise to leave, your legs might not be as they were when you first sat down! My mother has been known to add a bit to a baby's bathwater too, if suffering with a cold, teething or struggling to sleep! Very much a staple in Jamaican families drinks' cabinet.

Adds punch, funk and a bit of the X factor to any cocktail!
It depends on what you want.
Mix this 50/50 with a blanc agricole or an aged rum in a cocktail, and it will give it real oomph and sparkle. For me, those combos lift everyone from 5 or 6 out of 10 to a 7. Personally, I like mixing this with Copalli. It's not as awesome as a Clairin in a Hurricane, but it's not a lion miles away and it's much cheaper!

Smell is citrus-y and slightly vegetal.
Taste is very dry, savoury to start with a creeping chemical sweetness followed by a long finish of gentle burn, citrus, sugar, solvent and lip smacking dryness.

Surprisingly drinkable neat. Much more approachable, and less tasty, than Hampden Rum Fire. Funk up your cocktails, folk! It only gets a 3 star because Clairin kicks it into next week.

a true icon
I imagine this is incredibly polarizing depending on one's opinion on 'funky' tasting rums. This is truly THE rum of jamaica, and works excellent in cocktails, especially when pairing with sour tropical and citrus fruits. My preferred drink, however, is simply mixing with a can of ting and a squeeze of lime. The flavours pair excellently, and it is the most popular way to drink this rum in jamaica.

Love it love it love it!
A staple for many Caribbean drinkers, and this is the standard go-to for Jamaicans... Hot stuff but wonderful x

Not quite how I remember it
I've only had the once before and it tasted like paint stripper, which was nicer than this bottle. Not a fan of vegetal tasting rums

it's like mezcal
Similar to mezcal, not much like rum. I'm not a huge rum fan so that's ok, but it tastes like mediocre mezcal. A bit overrated, I should think

the best
mix with energy drink like boost or red bull. don't drink on an empty stomach or you will wake up in a police station - trust me, I've made that mistake. premium rocket fuel, the best of the best.
beware of the person you may become. jekyll and hyde type drink.
the best.

Its not the real thing
Since the take over of wray n nephew, it has become clear that the drink has been watered down but still advertised as 63 percent. White rum was never made or bottled in the UK and certainly not at the shard london bridge. Very disappointing to see what they are doing. Now if I want a real bottle I have go already to jamaica to go and get anything close.
