An agricole rum from Australia! From Husk Distillers come Pure Cane, an unaged expression distilled from sugar cane juice. On the back of each bottle you can find which specific cane variety was used in each one, along with the year of harvest, which is pretty cool. Wonderfully grassy, give it a go in cocktails where you'd use an unaged molasses rum. Mojitos are on the cards!
Sweet, freshly cut grass, with white pepper, banana skin and icing sugar.
I took a punt on this Australian Rum but on opening the bottle was put off by the smell; uninticing vegetal blandness. Tried it neat with an ice cube hoping it would open it up. It did not. Gave it a final chance and made a classic Daiquiri, again hoping the lime and sugar would transform this thin, weird tasting Rum into something wonderful. It did not. I threw the whole drink away…that bad. Sorry to the makers, but this rum is frankly terrible.
