Seleccion de Maestros Bottling Note

The new edition of Havana Club's very popular Cuban Barrel Proof, Seleccion de Maestros is a superb rum, bottled at higher strength.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Burnt sugar, maple syrup, pecan Danishes, ginger, nutmeg and oak.

Palate: Lots of character and spicy complexity. Notes of chocolate oranges, espresso beans, cedar wood, cigar leaves, calves leather, musty woodsheds and crème caramel.

Finish: Hints of smoke and sugared peels, very fruity.

User Reviews of the Havana Club Seleccion de Maestros

You will enjoy every sip

The best Rum you could ever ask for, whether you are sitting around with a good cigar, or having a after dinner drink. Chilled is the best way to enjoy the absolute flavor!

New favorite Rum

I have always loved Havana Club Anejo 7 but this blows the doors off that. Nice and smooth in the mouth with a good afterburn. I get fed up with all of these sweet rums, this rum lets the complexities out, and finishes well. I can’t see it lasting long in my house.

Rather moreish

Having not tried any rums at all I thought I would buy this one, and I was certainly not disappointed it was rather moreish, the bottle got opened and finished in one sitting, very tasty.

I'm new

To this standard of rum
I quite literally grew up on Bacardi white rum
Tasting my dads Bacardi at a weding
At 46 years old I have just tasted selection de Maestros and it is actually quite emotional thinking that my dad started me on this amazing journey of taste
Thank you dad x

Best Rum so far

Havana Club Selección de Maestros was opened for a special occasion, after sitting on my shelf for a month. Immediately detected caramel with oak, long aftertaste that did not deteriorate. Rather, the complex and mild sweetness, nuttiness and butter lingered for a long time. Although at 90 proof, sensed even less of an alcohol flavor and odor than 80 proof rums. I liked this more than Havana Club 7 Year, which is a great rum, too. Seleccion de Maestros gets a perfect score, highly recommend it to everyone. Note, this should not be mixed with anything. Its flavor is much too sublime to spoil with anything else.

Excellent rum from Cuba

Comparing to Havana Club 7y, this rum is so soft and full of rich taste. 45% alcohol does not take over. This is my top three favorite.

Cuba's Finest

After recently visiting Cuba, I came across all the Havana Club range, which are all nice and get better with age. This bottle is amazing and the taste is unreal giving its 45%. Though quiet expensive I would highly recommend to anyone.

Yum Yum Rum

I had this great rum while staying in Germany a ta Penta Hotel and can tell you that to this date is the best rum I have ever tasted. I thought the 7 year Havana Club was the best............ we have a new winner!

This really is an amazing bottle of rum. I do like the Havana range, and have the 3yo and 7yo variants at home too and this is one of my favourites! This isn't a simple rum to drink and shows a lot of complexity - so if you're a sugary rum fan (Zacapa, Zaya, etc) then stay away from this one!
