Havana Club Añejo 3yo

This Havana Club has been aged for three years in bourbon casks and then filtered, hence its colour. A classic rum and a key component of good, refreshing Daiquiri (or just about any rum cocktail), and it even won a gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2016.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is crisp and fresh with notes of marzipan, citrus, allspice, ground ginger, a little lime and gentle oak. The palate is clean and rounded with notes of citrus, vanilla and oak, a little spice and lemon and a delicate nutty note.

Best White Rum
As far as bang-for-buck goes, this rum takes some beating. If you're after a sipping rum then don't bother, this rum is not for that, but for Daiquris, Hotel Nacionals, Hemingway Daiquris, Canchancharas et al., this is fantastic. It's packed full of character and is my go-to rum for Daiquiris. Great value for money.

White rum is not the cheap stuff of the distillery, as this prooves its something to be proud of.

Best for lime and mint cocktails
Best white rum for pool side drinks so good with lime or mint
If in Cuba skip the white label always go for Yellow in mixed drinks anything else in Cuba is good for sipping

Best white rum
Simple rum yet so hard to find. Had this rum whilst in Cuba in a simple cocktail. A Cuba libre or free Cuba. Ice, lime juice over the ice double Havana top with coke. Tried to remake with other rums but it has to be Havana 3

Excellent mixing rum
Makes for an excellent daiquiri. It's got its share of funk, but not enough to totally overpower other ingredients. Much more character than Bacardi.

Also, in response to "far from bein the best" below, unless you're buying cask strength liquor, every spirit is cut with water to lower it to a given strength.

Bacardi Who? Cuba's King
Brilliant punch rum. 10 times better than Bacardi, and it has character, that soft taste of the oak barrel mixed with the leaves of the sugar cane gives it so much more charm. This is one of the few white rums I can sip on, although it should be used in cocktails.

Better to buy it in Cuba
I love this rum! But it only costs $5.50 USD in Cuba. Why is it 4 times that much outside of Cuba? Shipping can't possibly justify a 400% markup.

far from bein the best
it has a back taste of bleach, i suspect they mix it with water to lower alcohol to the requested level 40%. i don't recommend it
