From the ever-fabulous Foursquare distillery in Barbados, this pot and column blend rum was matured for 17 years in ex-bourbon casks, before finally being released in January 2022, as part of the Exceptional Cask Selection. Bottled at 58% ABV, it's a satisfyingly robust sipper with a wealth of sweet spice and woody warmth.
Huge helpings of vanilla, think creamy custard and crème brûlée, a touch of sweet clementine, mellow leather, and buttery oak.
Prickles of green pepper bring some heat, softened by fresh leather and chewy toffee. Drying spices bring a second wave of oaken warmth.
Sweet vanilla breaks through towards the end, with chilli flakes keeping things spicy.
