Foursquare Equipoise
This is the 25th instalment of the immense Exceptional Cask Selection from the legendary Foursquare distillery in Barbados. It's a combo of pot and column distilled rum, comprising a rum matured in a bourbon cask for 10 years before spending a further four years in a Calvados cask, then blended with another bourbon cask of 14-year-old rum. Presented at a robust 61% ABV, without added sweeteners or colouring, it's a mighty exciting addition to an ever-stunning collection. This is the first time that Foursquare has released a Calvados cask matured rum, and it proved to be a winning combo – Equipoise scored a jaw-dropping 99/100 at the 2024 International Wine and Spirits Championships!
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
Fresh ginger, dried raisins, tart Victoria plum skin and cooking apples. Dark chocolate, toffee and shortcrust pastry.
Palate
Soft creamy apple pie onto the palate with gentle notes of coconut and ice cream.
Finish
Dried hazelnuts and more dried coconut coupled with astringent notes of black tea, with a tartness and a little fresh ginger heat.
