Doorly's 12 Year Old

The awesome 12 Year Old Barbados rum from Doorly's, distilled at Foursquare! Over a decade of ageing has done this rich tipple rather well, as it's full of chewy toffee, tobacco and tropical fruit notes. This edition has been bottled at the slightly higher strength of 43% ABV.

Fantastic
Initial opinion, upon opening, wasn't the greatest. Kind of burbony scent with strong ethanol. The taste was still good and improved after couple of pours. Few days later, it all magically started developing: the chocolatey scent, smooth taste with good ABV and long satisfying finish. Even better now, 3 weeks since first opened. Looking forward to trying other Doorly's expressions.

Full bodied rum but nothing special
This is a rich full bodied rum with a slight 'burn' in the mouth at the end. I don't have the best palate but could not discern individual flavours. Perhaps I might have enjoyed it more if I'd added a little water. Not really to my taste.

I love a drop of 4SQ and the Doorly's 12 along with the XO are fantastic examples, if it wasn't for the ECS releases then the 12 would be getting 5 Stars with the XO not far behind, both excellent VFM.... Enjoy!

Easy sipping, not too complex, just fine!
A very easy going dram. Will work neat but slides away very well with a drop of water. It’s smooth, not too sweet and something to look forward too after a hard shift at the coal face.

Excellent sipper
Very smooth on the finish after a wee kick on the tongue to start. I enjoyed neat while the better half halved it with apple juice. Worth every penny.
