Clairin Le Rocher

This 100% natural pot-still Haitian rum was produced by Bethel Romulus (great name) in the village of Pignon from three varieties of sugar cane.

The distillery was built on a rock and the bottling named Le Rocher because Romulus is a devoutly religious man and so took inspiration from the Gospel of Matthew, verses 7: 24-27 'The foolish man builds the house on the sand and instead the wise man builds it on the rock'.

Reviews for Clairin Le Rocher
Met him, seen the factory, have pictures.
I tasted this rum in Pignon at the factory, it is delightful! Bethel is a Christian and he explained the process of his rum personally during the tour, the factory is behind his home, his wife is the hospital administrator there in Pignon. I have photos of the factory and he and I together, he is a very nice and humble man and I feel privileged to have met him.

Crazy tasting juice
I don't get the MoM tasting notes at all!
I get pungent melted/burnt rubber morphing into almost sweet phenolic tar.
It says on the bottle that it's in the Jamaican dunder style, and they use cane syrup rather than juice. As such, it's not like other clairins at all. I think of it as the crazy love child of Clairin Communal and Hampden Rum Fire.
Personally, I really can't drink this neat - I've tried several times! - but it makes a bonkers mixer. Really opens up into a mojito I can't describe, but really like! Pina colada next!
