This snazzy rum comes to us from El Salvador! Cihuatán Xaman is named after Xaman, the Mayan god of the North Star and protector of the Cihuatán valley. The rum itself was initially aged in American oak bourbon barrels, and then treated to a unique finish in Mayan ceiba barrels. Mayan ceiba trees were considered by the ancient Maya to be a symbol of the universe, so that's pretty special. There's a smoky, savoury dimension to the rum, so if you were looking to pair it with food then smoked meats would be a top choice.
