A marvellous commemorative rum from Black Tot, this expression marks the 100th anniversary of the last rum ration given to Australian Navy sailors on British ships. The Black Tot crew began with a portion of its Black Tot 50th Anniversary rum, which they treated to some further maturation in ex-sherry casks. This was then blended with an array of fruit forward rums, spanning a range of ages from Guyana, Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica and Australia. Focussing on the concept of perpetual blending, a Naval tradition that certainly lends itself very well to rum, this is a superbly tropical and fruity sipper.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Rich, chewy molasses, dark muscovado, and soaked raisins. A touch of banana and tropical wafts of charred pineapple develop, with pungent estery fruits balancing bright, orangey zest and underlying earthen, leathery oak.
