An artisinal mezcal from Ojo de Dios (which translates at 'God’s eye'), produced from Espadin agave. This here is a Joven bottling, so after the agave is roasted for around 10 days and double distilled, it's bottled up without any ageing, packed full of fresh fruit, grassy agave and fragrant smoke.
Cut grass sweetness alongside barbecued pineapple, underripe plum and cigar box, with a creamy hint of vanilla and a dry, peppery finish.
A very pleasant mezcal with the right amount of smokiness and a slight herbal and peppery aftertaste. Not too hard at all and with a fresh floral and citrus scent
This is a great Mezcal, well balanced and not crazy on the smoke. I've been sipping it but also making some Mezcal Negroni's. Lovely stuff.
The longer this is left to stand the better it is the older batches had way more going on than the new batches that are out now and there is a very big difference in taste. My advice is keep it for a few months before opening. The older batches had a lot more of a fruity smoky taste it will eventually come through in the new batches it just needs time.
Absolutely delicious. The smokiness isn't overpowering like some other mezcals and the citrus notes are lovely!
Great Mezcal, so approachable and easy to drink! Absolutely love it!
