Corte Vetusto Espadín

Under the watchful eye of fourth generation Master Distiller Juan Carlos Gonzalez Diaz, Corte Vetusto Espadín Mezcal is produced. Before distillation, the agave is cooking in traditional earthen pit ovens, with mesquite specially chosen to heat said ovens for the flavours it imparts on the final spirit. This particular expression is made using the Espadín variety of agave - a favourite of Mezcal producers across Mexico. The spirit is double distilled before bottling at 45% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Earthy and subtly meaty smoke, with a prickle of black pepper and cooked sweet peppers.

Palate Subtly creamy at points, with robust wafts of smoke maintaining dominance of the palate.

Finish Flinty minerals, and a touch of vegetal oak.

Reviews for Corte Vetusto Espadín
Always buy Del Maguey if looking for smooth and smoky taste
I have yet to taste a better mescal than the del maguey single village san luis del Rio bottle. If you’re looking for smokiness that’s your tipple. The one above despite saying ‘smoked’ doesn’t taste it. It’s way too much of a hit, similar to drinking a really cheap vodka. Totally fine in a cocktail, but undrinkable alone. Avoid and spend your money on the Del Maguey. You won’t be disappointed.

Unbelievable value and combination of smoky and smooth.
Unbelievable value for the price. Only £25-30 more than other good value brands; but easily on a par with ‘high end’, very expensive bottles. My new go to brands alongside Vida, Verde and Koch (which still makes me laugh 😂)!

Out the top draw with this one. No question.
A rare treat. Save this for my Chesterfield when the chores are done. Quality is often recognised through the opinions of others but I can assure you this is another level and as soon as it goes down, you know.

Highly recommended.
Highly recommended. This has a smoky smooth taste which I really enjoy. Great to have on its own, on the rocks or with a little water.

The ‘single malt’ of mezcals
Complex Mezcal with so much flavor, am substituting it during my ‘single malt’ time

Must have Mezcal
Great value compared to others and a great entry for those interested in Mezcal. Others from Corte Vetusto are definitely worth a try too. Try it, you won’t be disappointed

Corte Vetusto is the brand to buy if you enjoy mezcal
Corte Vetusto is the brand to buy if you enjoy mezcal - this particular bottle is crisp with a hint of wild agave. I believe that there are more complex blends for sophisticated palates (Tobala and Ensamble - I have yet to try but heard great reviews from friends). Superb - treat yourself.

Highly recommend
New to Mezcal, so decided to go with an award winner to kick it off on the right note. Very glad I went with this one! Rich in flavour with a smokey undertone and packaging great for the display shelf. Highly recommend and will be back for more!

Complex agave forward Mezcal
Incredibly nuanced Mezcal that is agave forward and doesn't just pound you with smoke like some of the others out there.
