An Italian gin from the Benedictine monks of Vallombrosa Abbey in Tuscany.
Sweet, flinty and herbal with a juniper core.
An excellent gin. Preferred in a GT and garnished with a segment of cut orange.
What a joy this was to find! I knew of the Vallombrossa liqueur having bought it in their shop in Rome, and so thought this gin was worth trying - well it's worth buying again! As with the liqueur, if you know what you are looking for, you can get just the faintest hint of parsley coming through, making it a marvellous digestif, but it is also beautifully smooth. It has a lovely clean flavour with a hint of herbs, and is a real classic gin with just a splash of tonic, or as a longer drink.
