Silent Pool Gin Bottling Note

Silent Pool Gin is produced on the Albury Estate in the Surrey Hills, right next to the Silent Pool, a beautiful, mysterious spring-fed lake - what a place to create a gin! The gin itself features 24 botanicals, including kaffir lime, chamomile, local honey and lavender, among others, resulting in a subtly sweet though intricately-balanced tipple.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Violet, lavender and lime leaf bring floral aromatics to the nose, while cardamom and juniper give it a spicy edge.

Palate: Elderflower, chamomile and a waft of orange blossom. Warming honey sweetness and a spark of black pepper.

Finish: Vanilla-rich honey notes last on the finish.

Silent Pool Gin Reviews

Strong but lovely

A very strong smelling and tasty gin. Another delight. I think it smells a little like Parma violets, that's why I like it so much no doubt. Mine was served with dried berries.

Pleasant, drinkable, subtle & delicate, no punchy flavours.

The first time I tried it I thought it was weak without much taste like pond water. The 2nd time I tried it, it was quite drinkable, subtle flavours & delicate. Tried it with an orange peel garnish 2nd time, lemon slice the 1st.

Recipe change??

Doesn’t taste like it did back when it was small batch and not mass produced. Could this effect the taste I’m not sure but not comparable

28th April 2020

Have they changed the recipe?

I hadn't tried this in a while but it doesn't quite taste the same...

Smooth, subtlety fragrant with a hint of pepper. Similar to Star of Bombay.

17th December 2019

lovely gin but and glasses but too expensive for me

Just looking at your offer and think its too expensive considering the gin to buy alone is 33,89 so the gin glasses are expensive so on that note no thanks

30th October 2019

Beatifully smooth with a touch of sweetness, which to be fair I would not normally like as I like my gin bone. This is a very special gin.

16th June 2019

Could actually drink it straight. It's pure, clean and wonderful

25th May 2019

Bottle is good

Bottle is best thing about it.

27th April 2019

Damn good

Very complex gin. Best over ice with good tonic. No citrus required.

3rd March 2019

Excellent gin.

Absolutely love it. Bought the blackberry gin liquor last year and have just finished it, sad about that.

9th December 2018

Delicious taste

Very smooth flavour, delicious taste. Have tried many brands, definitely up there with the best.

2nd November 2018

Great smooth and well balanced

A really great smooth can really taste and feel the smoothness...mixes with tonic like a duck to water

Best ever gin

Best gin I've ever tasted beautiful with ice tonic strawberry's and limes.. give it a try you won't be disappointed..

28th June 2018

Beautiful, buttery taste, perhaps from the base spirit. Despite the fancy bottle, this one's on the reorder list.

26th May 2018

Please try, it's a must

By far my favourite gin.

What I love about this gin is its unique taste, batch to batch. Unlike the usual mass produced churn out gins, there's a subtle difference in every bottle I've tasted so far.

It had such subtle flavours but they still stand up to a more robust tonic. My recommendation is a double silent pool with half and half Schweppes and fever tree clementine.

Nice gin but would not buy again. You are paying a premium for the gorgeous bottle with the glass stopper.

11th February 2018

Truly delicious!

So smooth even neat over ice. I enjoy it served with orange peel and sprig of burnt rosemary- perfect for cosy winter evenings. Perfectly matched with Fever Tree tonic (Indian or Mediterranean). Clean crisp botanicals, a light citrus and subtle sweetness. My new favourite gin. Truly Delicious!

I purchased a bottle last year after visiting the Silent Pool and the distillery. Very smooth and refreshing and a wonderful after taste. Love the glass stopper as well! It is by far the best gin that I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. If only it were available in the USA.

22nd September 2017

Love this Gin!!!

I got to try this Gin while I was in London a few weeks ago. It is phenomenal! My usual favorite is Monkey 47 and I put this right up there with it. Very smooth and refreshing with a sweet undertone. I can't wait until it's regularly available in the states.

18th September 2017

A cut above

It's the best I've ever tasted in my life.

2nd July 2017

Subtle and tasty. Worth adding to your collection.

14th June 2017

My favourite gin ever (so far)

Lovely gin, great taste, slightly sweet. This one won hands down in a taste test so went out and bought a bottle or three!

6th May 2017

Not bad

Not bad at all

25th April 2017

OK but better about.

More of a gin for people who don't like a strong taste, easy to drink but to subtle for myself.
I would put Bathtub or Pink Pepper above this.

27th March 2017

Wow impressive! Great flavor

Surprised, great flavor and tone. Drink it simple and enjoy.

24th March 2017

Wanted to try this gin for sometime and finally (tonight) did! Really lovely botanical flavours with a hint of sweetness served in a beautiful glass (same as bottle) which made the whole experience very nice.

My New Favourite Gin

I bought this as part of a tasting set, and have to say, it is gorgeous. I'm no expert, but I know what I like in a gin and this one hits the spot. Lovely mix of botanicals which kept me guessing, sweet with just a hint of citrus. I'm about to purchase my first bottle.

28th August 2016

Mrs Linda Smith

A lovely flavour very strong citrus smell and flavour will buy again, very smooth goes well with Fever Tree tonic ice and lime slice.

24th August 2016

A very special gin from a very special place

Having been born and brought up a few miles away from the Silent Pool and always having loved that particular part of the North Downs I was rather curious when I saw this gin on offer in a pub in Central London and was determined to get to try it. Well I’ve just returned from a weekend visiting family in and around Guildford and I made a point of visiting the distillery itself adjacent to the Silent Pool and came away with a bottle of this very special gin.

For those who are not fortunate enough to know this very beautiful spot (OK I’m biased) in person the Silent Pool is at the foot of the North Downs and fed by a natural spring which filters down through the chalk of the downs resulting in the pool being fed with exceptionally pure and clear water and this is what is used in the distillation of this Gin. To this exceptional water is added the very best of locally sourced ingredients which is distilled into something truly special.

The gin itself is so very very smooth with none of the bitter edge that is associated with some of the mass produced gins to be found on the high street and as such can easily be drunk neat with ice but when mixed with ice, a slice and a good quality tonic produces the best gin and tonic that I have ever experienced. So it costs perhaps twice what a bottle of mass produced gin does but you really are getting what you pay for as it really is a premium product. Also as has been mentioned before the bottle itself is a work of art and the first time I have ever seen a spirits bottle with a glass stopper.

2nd June 2016

Amaz Balls !!!

This will be my 3rd Bottle, really love it , have tried many Gins but this is the best for me anyway. Cannot return to low cost Gins now , would rather have small amount of really good Gin that large amount of low cost. Comes highly recommended .

28th May 2016

I would not describe myself as a connoisseur, that said I have tried a fair few of the better Gins out there, Hendricks, Sipsmith, Tanqueray, Gordons, Botanist etc. This is really smooth, floral, enough but not over powering. And the bottle is lovely, now a flower vase, a bottle makes no difference to the flavour but makes the experience just feel that bit more special. And I am biased but as a Surrey Hills resident there is something special about drinking a local gin, I know the Silent Pool and its a stunning area.

28th April 2016

Sippers Delight

The wife and I like this neat over ice, lovely tasting gin,now tried 15 different ones from this site. This is up there with Monkey 47 in our opinion. No need to adulterate it with tonic save that for Gordons. We always try a new gin neat, if it is not up to standard I can always use it for base to Sloe Gin.

4th March 2016

Beautiful Gin

This has got to be one of the best gins on the market and is growing in popularity. The beautiful bottle design is made up of illustrations of all of the botanicals and the figures from the story of the Silent Pool.

This gin deserves good tonic (Fever-tree Mediterranean if you can get it) and, as mentioned in other reviews, a slice of orange! It will probably be the best G+T you'll ever have.

29th February 2016

Love it!

Love this - it narrowly beats Sipsmith as my favourite gin. I prefer it with a slice of lime, though I met one of the team at the local farmer's market who insisted orange peel was the way to go as an addition.

16th December 2015

Just had my first taste of this Gin it won't be my last.

13th December 2015

Dr John Hare

A beautifully fragranced gin that has a distinct after taste of flowers and herbs. Loved it. Would not spoil it with tonic, it is good enough to drink on its own. One of the most distinct gins I have tried and will do so again!

8th December 2015

Absolutely lovely - my new favourite gin. Stunning bottle and gin glasses.

22nd November 2015

Linda (OGB) !

Best Gin I have ever tasted and I have tasted a few !!! So clean and a wonderful flavour, well worth the extra money. Use decent tonic please. Stunning bottle . Hooked !
