VIDDA Tørr Gin

Gin from the Oslo Håndverksdestilleri chaps, following on from their excellent Marka Nordic Bitter. The gin is styled on traditional British dry gin but is made with foraged local botanicals from the Norwegian mountains including heather, yarrow, chamomile, bilberry, angelica root and meadowsweet. The clue is in the name you see, with Vidda meaning 'mountain plateau' and Tørr meaning 'dry'.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Impressive citric pine forest, earthy turmeric, thyme, meadowsweet, pink peppercorns, violet, carnation, fresh mint and a core of juniper throughout.

Palate Sweet juniper is central, good mouthfeel, more fresh and spicy mountain flora in support.

Finish Quite clean with hints of sweet fennel, flowers and all.

One of the best gin's in the world!
No wonder it as won multiple Master and gold medals. These gin has a true taste of the Nordics.

Stunning
Captures a unique pine resin flavour, has a lot of character and very intense.

If pine just makes you think of cleaning products don't get this, if it conjures the smell and feel of polar forests then this is for you.

Don't!
This is still in my house about a year and a half after arriving via Craft Gin club. Gin is my drink of choice, and bottles don't usually last long. I'm afraid to say this is horrible. The pine is way too over powering and it tastes like pot purri, if I'm being kind, or pine toilet cleaner, if I'm not. Bottle's nice - that's the only good thing I can say.

Embarrassing
I’m Norwegian and would really like this gin to be good but the truth is; it’s embarrassingly dreadful. Avoid at all costs. I cannot believe that this gin has won awards. If you want a nice Norwegian gin, I can highly recommend Harahorn Gin (blue bottle) - it’s like a smooth Tanquary 10, very pleasant.

Not toilet duck & not for all - an incredible forest gin
Ok this is probably my favourite gin ... but it might not be for everyone, if you sometimes find g&t a bit sugary this could be what you’re looking for. It’s very different to the citrusy + botanicals and slightly sweet gin you often have this is mossy and forestry - it’s quite a shock on first gulp - not toilet duck more harsh walk in a snowy Scandinavian forest but give it time - it’s incredibly refreshing, different and then moorish... A very good gin

Delicious mountain botanicals.
Absolutely delicious! Full of wonderful mountain botanicals - the genuine article. The flavours are delicate and fresh and work very well with Fevertree tonics. I’ve been to the distillery and seen how natural the whole process is. A perfect Scandinavian gin!

Disgusting
I trusted the seller and I bought it. Maybe when he told me that was very good was referring to use as toilet cleaner. The worst gin I have ever had. Really taste like something chemical and as pine shower gel. Very sad I wasted my money.
