Eminente rum is a premium Cuban rum brand from Moët Hennessy. Famous for Champagne bands such as Ruinart, Krug, and Veuve Clicquot and illustrious names in spirits like Belvedere, Ardbeg and Glenmorangie, the company first explored making a Cuban rum in 2017 when the team met with the Cuban government which controls the rum industry. Premium, mature stocks of rum were already being laid down so a partnership was struck and by 2020 Eminente rum was launched.
The production of this Cuban rum begins with 100% Cuban sugar cane, harvested at high sugar content after up to 22 months. Fermentation takes 25-30 hours, yielding a clean, fruity wash. Distillation produces two spirits: high-strength rum (95% ABV) and aguardiente (75% ABV). The latter ages 2-3 years in Scotch and Irish whisky barrels. The final blend, 70% aged aguardiente, matures for seven years with 14 blending processes, containing older spirits. Five grams of sugar per litre are added before bottling. The result is a clean, fruity and fragrant made in the classic Spanish style of rum.
