Courvoisier VSOP

A classic VSOP cognac, this is matured for between 8 and 12 years in a selection of Troncais and Limousin oak barrels.

The Courvoisier brandy used in this bottling is sourced from the two premier regions of Cognac - the Grande Champagne and the Petite Champagne regions.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Whole coffee beans, mint leaves, kumquat, and red grape notes appear at first. Give it a minute and more savoury elements appear, with hints of buttered brown bread and a little whiff of sawdust.

Palate More coffee notes as it opens (this would be a really good partner to espresso after a big meal). Develops touches of brown sugar, waxy apple peels, sweet pea, and a fragrant oakiness.

Finish Ooh, a nice waft of almost-smoky cinnamon on the finish. Slowly becomes sweeter with fresh pear and gummy bears.

Reviews for Courvoisier VSOP Cognac
Smooth & Fruity
I enjoyed this drink with some apple juice to make a smooth mixer. There was a slightly different after taste I'm not used to, but I think the apple juice helped to tone it down. I'd share this with my friends in a social setting.

This is a really nice brandy. It is now in my list of top brandies that I will be buying. It is smooth, rich and very flavourful. I enjoyed it on its own and sometimes with one cube of ice.

A unique taste
This is such a unique taste and flavour, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I mixed it with Pepsi and the flavour was distinct without being overpowering. You could definitely taste the notes through the mixer but it was an enjoyable long drink, you didn’t feel that you needed to swig it. The after taste was pleasant and I found I could have drink many glasses and it would still have been enjoyable.

Has a velvety brown in colour, appears slightly lighter in a glass than the bottle. Has an aroma of spices and fruit, quite pleasant on the nose. Being a Cognac drinker I like to sip it neat and hold it in my mouth for a while to enjoy the release of the various flavours and the warming feeling that comes with the spirit. The Courvoisier was quite pleasant, smooth with a rich taste, fruity, nicely balanced although it had a slight rawness to it in its after taste. The presentation of the packaging I am not so sure on. The bottle has changed from the curved bottle which I have grown to associate with a fine Cognac to a more typical bottle that most spirits have. The labelling has also changed in style. I prefer the old packaging and bottle. I would say I enjoyed the experience overall of evaluating the product. But when it comes down to it it's really all about the taste and although it may not replace my current tipple I would recommend it as a close alternative.

Smooth with hints of zesty citrus. I drank this over ice. Lovely sophisticated drink great for an evening by the fire with a good book. The drink is perfect and to my liking. Defiantly recommend this cognac to friends and family. My dad would love this!!

I was so chuffed with this product! My father and I really enjoyed this smooth, fiery liquid. We loved the Smokey flavour and the light caramel aftertaste. We will certainly be buying this!

Smooth and enjoyable
This is a quality cognac. I've thoroughly enjoyed it. It's nice and smooth. Can't complain at the price and I will be purchasing in the future. The box it comes in makes it a really good present too.

Smooth but punchy
A hint of vanilla and citrus taste. It is smooth for seasoned brandy drinkers but could be strong if you’re not used to it. I found it very refreshing and enjoyable. Poured over ice you can’t go wrong.

Lovely, smooth cognac.
This cognac is smooth, warming and delicious.
The amber colour is comforting, the flavour is warm with a hint of spice, and it's perfect on its own or with a mixer. I tried with a splash of diet coke. Lovely.
