An aged Cachaça produced by Brazil's Novo Fogo Distillery and bottled by That Boutique-y Ru... Wait a minute... That Boutique-y Cachaça Company! There we go. Anyway, yes, delicious Cachaça produced by an excellent team in southern Brazil, allowed to rest in a combination of Amburana and American oak before being bottled. You're most likely to see Cachaça aged in American oak, so the use of Amburana (which is Brazilian teak) is something rather special indeed. The label features a team of familiar faces (well, they would be familiar if we could see them...) learning how to Bogo Pogo.
Batch 1 is a release of 550 bottles.
Hefty aromas of butterscotch and caramel, alongside liquorice allsorts, cardamom and pine needles.
Dark jammy blackcurrant, more of that creamy caramel and fresh mango sweetness.
Floral honey, spice and intense woody notes linger for a long time.
I normally avoid That Boutiquey products because they're 50cl and, in my honest opinion, for the bearded wankers of the world. This was bought for me as a change of pace following a decade's extensive research into whisky and, I must admit it is excellent. The nose is one of those that you could sit and decipher all day long (I would say the notes above broadly cover it). The palate doesn't quite reach the heights of the nose but that would be difficult. Now, start bottling at 70cl!
