“I tried this from a 3cl taster, and found it extremely unpleasant. In fact I struggled to finish the dram, something that has never happened to me before! The comprehensive tasting notes go on at length about the terroir of organic barley, but the overwhelming palate I found was reminiscent of anchovies - not something I normally expect in a malt. At £77 I shall be spending my money elsewhere.”

The first release in the Waterford Distillery's Arcadian Series, Gaia 1.1 is an organic Irish single malt whisky, as certified by the Organic Trust! This expression uses Irish barley grown by seven different farmers, and matured in a combination of first-fill American oak, virgin American oak, Vin Doux Naturel and French oak casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Honey, melted butter, fresh orange oil and a hint of cranberry.

Palate

Vibrant barley notes, supported by more citrus and fruit, as well as a growing touch of earthy spice.

Finish

Dried peels, cedar, spring blossom and menthol.
