Originally released for the Taiwanese market, this is Macallan Aera, a no age statement single malt matured in predominantly in sherry-seasoned oak casks. After its maturation, it was bottled up at 40% ABV in this rather striking black bottle.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Rounded and well balanced with vanilla notes, candied dried fruits, orange peel and sweet citrus.
Hint of chocolate, dried fruit richness, smooth honey with a sweet citrus burst.
Medium to long, with lingering vanilla and a gentle warmth.

I had a taste at my local liquor Store in Taiwan - FYI it's still for sale and 60% cheaper than the listed price here. My thoughts on it were simple: absolutely bang average. It's quite smooth, quite pleasant, a little fruity, a little spicy, but it is nothing at all special and at this insane price miles away from good value. If you have more money than sense go ahead but my recommendation would be, if you are planning on spending this much on a single bottle, to look elsewhere.
