The English Distillery
That Boutique-y Whisky Company
Single Malt
The second batch of English single malt from the English Whisky Co., independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company has arrived! This time, the whisky was drawn from bourbon and sweet Sauternes casks, resulting in an intriguing and delicious flavour profile. The dragon that St. George is fighting on the label looks to have added to its collection of bottles, and also seems to be roasting a classic caramel sweetie. Dragons clearly have good taste.
Batch 2 is a release of 845 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
There’s bonfire smoke and sweet green apple, with cherry soda, rancio and bruised pears. Polished oak is there throughout, and there’s a suggestion of cinnamon sticks and candy cane menthol.
The crisp apple sweetness is there again, with sour cherry boiled sweets and Big Red cinnamon drink. Thick ash is powerful, but doesn’t spoil notes of oak tannins, more of that rancio and furniture polish.
Warm, sweet and prolonged. Rich barley and meaty smoke linger.
A powerful dram that is rounded enough to not let the smokiness dominate.
